In the end, her mother turned back into human inside this circle, and I think the witch told her that the only way to break this curse is inside this circle during the sunset. Next, the blue lights appear after they landed in the mysterious circle. First, the horse of Merida was scared of them when they rode there. In Brave, the rocks played a big small role. Remember when we all felt some vague relief while we briefly thought that Disney had pulled the new, sexy Merida due to protests. For me, the rocks in the fog seem very similar!
